Anytime someone says, “One who is perfect in knowledge is with you,” you better be careful. When they add, “I have yet something to say on God’s behalf,” then trouble is near.
Elihu demonstrated an arrogance that is rarely matched, but all of us at times speak with the same kind of certainty. It is a certainty not based on God’s Word but on our own desire and wisdom. We want to prove how right we are and we ratchet up the rhetoric. “I know what is right and God is on my side.”
Humility overcomes much hubris. Maybe someone else knows more. Maybe I need to be silent and listen.
