One phrase jumped off the page for me as I read Genesis 4-7 today. After God gave instructions to Noah about building the ark and gathering the animals, the Bible tells us, “Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him” (Genesis 6:22).
Complete obedience. God’s instructions protected Noah and his family and preserved God’s creation. But the protection could only be available if Noah obeyed God.
Throughout our lives, we receive God’s instructions for living as His disciples. How many times do we resist His clear word and guidance, believing that they are too hard, unrealistic for “modern” life, or restrictive? Yet, God works for our good and His glory.
I want to respond to God as did Noah: complete obedience.
